NYC in 7 hours

Last Saturday one of my long time dreams became true. Going to New York City! We took a bus from DC at 7 am and came back the same night. The exact second we arrived to New York and I saw the tall buildings raising up to the sky, I felt totally amazed. At the same time I could not believe I was actually there but I was insanely happy to actually be there. The busy streets impressed me instantly and though the whole trip I enjoyed the huge amount of people, cars, shops, buildings... The action, movement and excitement.

Because we only had about 7 hours for sight-seeing, we walked a lot and at the end of the day the whole group was exhausted. It was still totally worth it and I feel very blessed to have got the chance to see all that. As a tourist I´m not very concentrated; I don´t know the names of all the places we went to. And defenately can not tell you in which part of the city which place is. But luckily one picture is worth a thousand words, right?

As it is super easy to get beautiful pictures from the city, it is hard to get unique ones. So many people have captured the exactly same skyscrapers and even more people have seen their unbelievably beautiful shots. I, of course, took a ton of pics and gathered the best ones to share my amazing experience with all of you. Enjoy!


Viime lauantaina taas yksi pitkäaikaisimmista unelmistani tuli toteen, nimittäin matka New Yorkiin. Otimme DC:stä bussin seitsemältä aamulla ja palasimme myöhään samana iltana. Väsymys väistyi ällistyksen ja riemastuksen tieltä samalla sekunnilla, kun bussi ajoi keskelle taivasta hipovia rakennuksia. Samaan aikaan en osannut oikein uskoa, että olin vihdoin New Yorkissa ja olin järjettömän iloinen, että olin siellä. Kiireiset kadut tekivät minuun välittömän vaikutuksen ja koko matkan ajan nautin sydämeni kyllyydestä suurista ihmismassoista, autoista, kaupoista, rakennuksista... Kaupungin liike, hektisyys, jännitys vatsan pohjassa.

Koska aikaa nähtävyyksille oli vain noin 7 tuntia, kävelimme jalat kipeiksi ja päivän lopussa koko ryhmä oli aivan poikki. Kaikki kävely oli kyllä sen arvoista! Tunnen itseni todella onnekkaaksi, että pääsin näkemään tämän kaiken. Turistina en ollut paras mahdollinen. En todellakaan muista kaikkien paikkojen nimiä, joissa kävimme ja vielä vähemmän, missä osassa kaupunkia ne olivat. Onneksi kuva kertoo enemmän kuin tuhat sanaa, eikö niin?

Niin kauniista kaupungista on helppo saada kauniita kuvia, vaikeampaa on saada erilaisia kuvia. Niin monet ovat ikuistaneet samat pilvenpiirtäjät ja vielä useammat jo nähneet heidän henkeäsalpaavan kauniita kuvia. Otin itse tietysti paljon kuvia ja keräsin niistä parhaat jakaakseni kaikille teille uskomattoman kokemukseni. Nauttikaa!

First we visited the World Trade Center

We stopped for lunch. As you can see I´m trying to eat healthier because my skin has suffered from all the junk food I´ve been eating.

And also coffee, obviously.

After lunch we headed to the 9/11 memorial

If you squint, you can see the Statue of Liberty. We didn´t have time to see it any closer either.

We took the metro to the Grand Central Terminal (and saw no rats even though we were told otherwise).

Super talented street performers. One of the reasons I loved New York so much.

Times Square

As we arrived to the Rockfeller Center, rain started pouring down. So instead of continuing to the Central Park, we got coffee and started our way back to the bus stop early.
